Actually, the pathway that leads to Miyanoura Port from "Shiratani Unsui Gorge" through Tashiro Annex has been chosen as one of "500 beautiful roads in Japan for walking.
Although the length of this trekking course is about 10 km, there is around 700 m in height difference, so although it is easy to trek down, how about trekking it up?
Mountain climbing & trekking in Yakushima
Yakushima is known for its island mountains.
Enjoy trekking to the 7200-year-old Jomon Cedar, which is said to calm a crying child, and Shiratani Unsui Gorge, the location of a super famous anime movie.
Other than those above, visit Yakusugi Land, Kigensugi Cedar, Mt. Motchomu, etc ...

Model Course
You may think that it is better to rent a car in Yakushima because there are few public transports available. However, it may not be the case.
Even without a car, visitors can enjoy Yakushima’s nature in Tashiro Annex, where it can be easily reached by public transport.
